The only logical reason for them not to go for it is that this is "not that kind of manga" but then ... why make it a plot point that it's deadly if they don't get together and have sex? Why? Literally anything but sex could have...
Oh, the whole magazine got axed. That must have been hard. No wonder it's so short even though the early districts took so long to get through. Probably was originally planned for 200+ chapters, but without a magazine, it just couldn't go that way.
Something interesting better happen next chapter.

We all knew Aiko wasn't the best person, but damn. Damn, this hurts.
Mao had the right answer for her: that "goddess Shinonome" is made up of various people, which is why she seems like such a 'perfect' person. But Aiko can't accept that a perfect person doesn't exist.
This manga is just too unbelievably heartbreaking.
Take a whole chapter away from our MCs to tell a completely unrelated tragic love story. So much pain in this world.

Either she's shady, or maybe she knows something of what their past relationships have been like.
That early concept of Morinaga was very cool, but it definitely wouldn't have fit her character. They need to come up with another character to use a design like that on.
