@electro_neanderthal look, I probably would done certain things differently, maybe for the better maybe for the worse! But this guy is going with this and imo, we shouldn't project ourselves on him! Just accept his good or bad decisions as part of the story! On the other hand a story can be...

Tbh it's not strange since they shared that life to form bonds, especially since she was always rejected before joining that group! So you just lie to yourself how you're just following orders even if you're killing innocent people! The younger you enter the stronger the bonds and more efficient...

I don't think the writing blamed it on the MC, he's blaming himself! Even if he was in the right to defend himself, he let rage take him over! And after the rage passed, a sense of guilt came, especially for someone who has never killed another human, raised in a Japanese society! It's easy...
