Hmmm... I'm thinking the reason Metry wanted to see Eijii is because he's her son, but the family (or maybe just the mother) prevented her from doing so.

Isn't this every manga? It's a lot more convenient for the reader and the author for there to only be one grocery store, one restaurant, one bar. It's boring but more realistic for the characters to more rarely interact.
