Pretty odd that the MC has 2 eye patches, for some reason. It's like the artist forgot about the first design, and then just made up a new one. The latter design, with an X shape, is hella ugly.

Why do I feel like I've already read this chapter? It's remarkable that: "Ruffians extort the local orphanage, after the local lord cut off their funding, until..." repeated itself enough to become a cliche / copy paste scenario.

Is that the Witch's motive? Odd, I vaguely remember something like that, I completely forgot about it. I was just about to bitch about how irking it is, to have a seemingly random super-villain that has no goals or the motives to do the evils that she commits. At least she has goals, I'm aware...

Sometimes, it feels like there's no actual story -- the MC has no real ambitions other than "to rest", and neither does she have any real goals, other than "to rest". The world pushes her to act in exciting ways, but overall, it's very easy to go: "Okay but where is any of this even going...?"...

So, yeah, okay. Supernatural, Dragon Ball stuff it is, then. Seems kinda weird, given everything that was introduced thus far, but hopefully the superhuman angle of the setting will be properly fleshed out.

I am always baffled by how the Japanese just insert their culture like that without finding it weird at all. Imagine a hunter-gathered story, where all of a sudden the MC starts eating Borscht like it's no big deal.

I believe I did, and the story just kept going with the idea of an unlikely, peculiar pairing. The rest of the story wasn't really all that interesting, and all I'm saying is that the start of the story was so needlessly forced that it made me stop and comment on it.

I can agree to some degree. The "origin arc" felt completely unnecessary. But it was coherent. This just came outta nowhere, it feels like a chapter is missing. Even if we want to tie it to the MC being undead, it is still very off-kilter.
