If i remember correctly in the novel he didn’t “give” it to them he gave the items to the guild to hold onto till they can pay for it effectively making it just a reserved item for them So they still would need to work for pay for it “if” the guild lets them continue working.

i get this joke but it kind of falls just a bit flat when you remember that she has lived 15-16 YEARS as her new self.... so if she didn't get used to it at this point then she's never gonna....
