One piece of evidence for the genius of this series is the merging of friendships. Yoshida's gang is now conversant with everyone else, not just because of friends they share but because of having someone new to hang out with.

This is really fun, and it's really consequential. We haven't had a chapter that handles so many relationships at the same time since the Disneyland field trip, I think. And Mako is now an honorary delinquent. Anna's lovey look at Yoshida was great. And damn, Hina, just spill about that...

@eviljackspicer All the stakeholders had to be there at the end, kids and parents and administration, to tie the whole thing up. I gather a lot of things in Japan work this way. Personally, I thought the arc was pretty damn cool. It was a different framing device with a lot of askew character...

Asuka is trolling the living hell out of Fuuka. I get the feeling that they have some kind of history, but it's hard to tell. Sometimes I think they're "birthday party friends," in the same circles growing up, invited to the same parties, used to each other but not close.

@TheMagicToaster Yuu would disarm them as she did Yuri, who is no pushover. It's really hard to dislike Yuu. Belittle her perhaps, but I don't think Asuka would do that.

@Gustbk It's interesting that Tomoki never apologized for the boob grab. I think he was just embarrassed and she is not one for holding grudges.

@Serenata The thing is that even though she doesn't hate her own guts the way she used to, Tomoko is unaware that others are missing her, talking about her, moving their lives around for her. She doesn't know, I think, that she really has an effect on the world.
