Exactly why I kind of hate love triangles. Sometimes they're more shallow than a kiddie pool so I don't care, other times the other character is actually good and I end up feeling bad for them when they lose.

That's only part of the conditions. You forgot the bit where they also adopted MC once he turns 18, his biological parents will be banned from any sort of contact with him and finally that he and FMC will be married.
