I think he gets serious eventually but he is supposed to be completely aloof and incompetent, with those around him helping him out and guiding him the whole story. This MC and story is kinda like the complete opposite of the shield hero story.

@Harvester nooooo well I guess that's another one I have to drop indefinitely due to licensing.

It's funny, when this started out it had almost a perfect score for a month, then all the drones came out trying to get everyone to hate the manga because the author is a Showa. Now it's pretty obvious that there was a mass flagging of 1 star.

Anyone considering reading the LN instead, you should start over from the beginning. The manga misses out on some early worldbuilding, side character stories, and rimuru's inner monologues.

This comic gives me the same feeling the early chapters of tower of god did.
