This really took a weird direction past two chapters.

Not all that weird. It's been mentioned before about him really caring about people before, whether it was self-doubt, or a comment by another. It's also possible to show strong emotions to a situation but not those involved; it would be like how we are viscerally worldly events.

Fifth year? First one mentioned/shown?

I do hope Cyril gets her time to shine soon. Been a bit of self doubt here and there over some time now. That aside, we've never gotten any tidbits into Cyrils or Mii's past have we?

Some really well rounded characters in this cast. Thank you for continuing to translate this gem.

They've made it a trend that anytime someone works on a series that theyve seemingly dropped, or are far behind in, they magically put out a batch release within a very short span. To me it comes across as " Our series, don't touch" and undermines the work that another has put forth.

Honestly was thinking the same as I was reading. Though I've found it in western novels too; albeit not as prominent. The moral high ground gets extremely old and off-putting. On the same notion, their whole "Im Japanese, so staying clean is a must" gets just as old.
