It was supposed to be 'Dark' in the first place(the LN illustrations has it written as 'Dark' / "da-ku" in katakana). I am not sure why they changed it to Kuro in the first place.

These LN illustrations hit hard differently. Even Garuu is literally a different beast. Also, it seems Light's alternate name in the LN is Dark (as in katakana "da-ku"), instead of Kuro which means dark or black. Maybe it was different in the manga or did the TL team applied their own literary...

I've already read up to chapter 90. I'm guessing it depends on the group. Another group, mangaeffect, releases their translation regularly and also at the same quality as SlayersScans, but they don't upload here on mangadex; they have on their own site.
