I don't see why sea-monsters would attack and eat people on the sea, except if they tought the ship was a large prey. There is much more food in the ocean than there ever would come from attacking and eating a crew on a large ship. Unless its just territorial or likes to kill things for fun...

Even tough they are "freeloading", it is still much better having some people you enjoy beeing around with than just living alone. Of course this can only be done if you like MC here has too much money and or power to even use it on, this scenario is an ideal one for everyone in my opinion.

@Haroku it was explained in the last chapter, they have been searching for a strong swordsman to follow, the reason for that is unknown, but whatever. Ars proved himself to be a superior swordsman in every aspect so they wan't to serve him.
