This is clearly fairly old school shoujo. But good lord it's easy reading; the chapters just slip by. It has a good feel. I'd like to see the rest of it someday.

@Lilliwyt Jeeze, can't a guy make a joke? Although yeah, I have usually heard the "princess carry" version. "Princess curry" would be funny too though.

For a moment I read it as "bridal curry". I was thinking "Is this another one of those things like red rice or New Years soba? Sounds a bit off, why haven't I heard of this before?"

I kind of like this guy, I'll probably be disappointed when he loses. Sure, he's pushing hard for what he wants. But he's straightforward, and he's interested in her as a person, and he's trying to get her to be who she really is rather than just copping out and saying the conventional...

@Excelsior You're entirely right. But . . . sadly, there are real guys like that. They aren't even that rare (and there are real women who, for various awful reasons, tolerate them). So yeah, he's a walking plot device. But not an unrealistic one.

I knew about the Japanese using shoujo-ai very differently and not using it for what Western fans have generally used it for. And I don't really mind it being phased out in places where we have tags that can do the same thing. But that doesn't make it wrong for anyone to have ever used it...
