PSA: Balance your centrifuge carefully. Worst case is you're on an ultracentrifuge and that can cause a 10kg (22lbs) rotor to go flying and pin itself up in the wall (story I heard from my postdoc)
I never actually thought agarose gel can be reused but that makes sense... but I feel like that the lab is just massively underfunded to even have to reuse agarose gel (it's just agar agar + running buffer solution, both are not pricey)
This is obvious, but cooking in lab in general (in an autoclave or making a hotpot specifically) will probably have the EH&S squealing and squirming. (though I'd like to try at one point, maybe when I'm alone in lab)
You should never do bacterial or yeast cultivation/expression at night IRL though. There is so much down time that you would probably fall asleep and miss your OD for overexpressing. Doing research takes a lot of time management too!
