Both those things mean the same thing. Even the way you interpret ''I suck'' as meaning you're bad at something could be applied here i.e I'm a bad person because I don't have any strong emotions about this situation.

Why are people so hung up on needing to see everything for them to understand what's being conveyed? I really wouldn't put it past the author to keep her alive for stupid reasons, but has no one who's reading this ever heard of subtlety? Maybe people should try reading between the lines more...

@Stickerparty I'm sure it's overexaggerated quite a bit but it seems to be a common trope in most manga that involving yourself in stuff outside of school is a no-go (part time jobs, hanging out in your uniforms in the evening on a schoolday etc)
