New tag to warn for violent (but not gore) content (OR rethinking sensitive content tags)

@Knonderd Tragedy is a genre tag, not sentitive content tag. I don't care if changing a tag from "genre" to "content" is deemed better than adding a new tag, but I think the readers should be warned better

New tag to warn for violent (but not gore) content (OR rethinking sensitive content tags)

I thinks that's worth some sensitive content tag, somehow. Maybe "torture"? There's no sensitive content tag for that manga currently Changing "horror" tag from the genre tags to the sensitive content tags could also do the trick

New tag to warn for violent (but not gore) content (OR rethinking sensitive content tags)

@bigtiddyoneesan No, it's this one: https://mangadex.org/title/14787/rengoku-no-karma I'm sure there'll be a lot of complaints from readers when I release ch27 in English. Like "why tf is there no warning tag for that extreme manga?" The readers will see something like this on page 12 (we'll...

New tag to warn for violent (but not gore) content (OR rethinking sensitive content tags)

I'm currently re-translating a chapter from a manga, where a schoolgirl shows about two dozens of cigarette burns on her thighs and explains she was raped by her own father. Visually, we only see the scars. The torture + rape scene is only recounted. Yet, I think this is not appropriate for...

Should have a 'read first chapter' button :planned:

@Tcof Theoretically, why not. However, defining the behaviour of such a button is not that obvious. For example, if the first chapter is available in several languages, then the button would have to choose one arbitrarily (especially if the default language for the user isn't among them) It...

A virtual "scanlation currency" as an incentive to revive dead projects

@sterven No, I can't. However, we can't be sure whether I'm right or wrong if we don't try. Moreover, adding a new kind of "fake internet points" could be an incentive for new scanlators. For example, scanlating something and get 200 readers for an English-speaking release might not seem...

A virtual "scanlation currency" as an incentive to revive dead projects

@sterven @konzolmester Some groups want real money indeed. But other groups want just fame, by having the most readers and being the first to release the latest chapter for some best-seller. That reader counter is also kind of "fake internet points". That's why you can find 5Toubun scanlated...

A virtual "scanlation currency" as an incentive to revive dead projects

People would care because they could show off. And we could make use of that shallow pride to revive cool projects.

A virtual "scanlation currency" as an incentive to revive dead projects

How about a virtual scanlation currency? Not a real one, of course, it would be mostly a cosmetics to show off. For example, for every month of membership on MD and for every uploaded chapter, people and groups would earn 1 point of virtual currency. And people could offer a reward in that fake...

Saguri-chan Tankentai - Vol. 4 Ch. 30 - Nagasaki prefecture, coal mine of Ikeshima

@Kartoffel_0br Yeah, we want to finish this cool series too =) Main plan: we get someone who can read Korean to help us translate the Korean raws we found. Backup plan: we wait for the Russian releases of the Ginseng team to re-translate them.

Add a "lewdness rating" for ecchi series

Ecchi series can be good as a series, or just as mere ecchi stuff. So, depending on what the readers want to read, the current rating doesn't tell them if a series has a high rating because it's an overall excellent series (good art, good story, etc) with a few suggestive stuff, or a crappy...

Making a backup on MD of some manga from the Internet Archive

From what I could read on the web, the Internet Archive is threatened by a massive lawsuit: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2020/06/publishers-sue-internet-archive-over-massive-digital-lending-program/ It means there's a risk that a lot of manga/manhua/manhwa will disappear. Although the...
