Actually, i have been interested in the idea that mimi/ibuki will lose the final round, and start a unit by themselves anyways. It has already been stated by Aria that, even if you lose, just getting to the main rounds of the contest already gives you a lot of prestige and publicity.

She doesnt have "good" intentions or bad ones, shes trying to help her friend get back with MC, but is doing so in an underhanded and really sneaky way, which makes her come off a scheming bitch.
