Yours is a great choice, and I wasn't trying to say otherwise. Just 1) pointing out that there was another double entendre which would work, and 2) reaffirming that you were right to point out that capturing the spirit of the intended meaning is more important than being literally word-for-word...

I wish it were believable that some teacher would step forward to say "Simple enough, let's re-test him to see how he does"… but people have a hard time seeing anything but what they expect to see (let alone if they want to see it).
