Loved his talk with someji in the hospital, he had it rough growing up, someji lost his whole family during the war, but he did his best to make it to where he’s today. I was so happy someji thought of Rei as a comrade in arms, they both did their best to survive and support themselves.

Beautiful chapter, From Rei putting the father in his place, to the end where Rei and the kawamoto sisters all sleep together.

Rei is so cool, anyone would he lucky to have him on their side, love how he handles Mr scum bag in this arc.

I love rereading this series, it’s really insane how much character and personality Rei is showing on and off the shogi board now. Rei has come so far from the depressed boy from chapter 1. This arc is still as funny as the first time I read it.

Rei has been going against adults on the shogi board his whole life, people far more sinister and intimidating then the loser father.

This father is a grade A piece of work, total scum who abandoned his family and only came back when he’s in a pinch. So glad Rei stood his ground, my boy has grown so much. Rei and the kawamoto sisters are practically family, and they will stand by each other.

I love Rei and the kawamoto sisters in this arc, this is the arc I want to see the most get animated.

I love re reading this series, the visual of Rei as a monster of the deep was awesome. It really is amazing how far Rei is climbing the ranks in just 3 years.

The shogi matches are always drawn so beautifully, and the writing is so good! Also the president has absolutely zero chill.

I always wanted Rei to move to sangatsu town, I wonder if that will ever happen before the series ends.
