Eye blinks happen between .1 and .4 seconds. Much like how you can always see your nose but your brain just filters it out, the brain kinda makes it up while you're blinking so it seems much faster.

Oh another tip is figuring out how to do an outer glow on text. That way you can have text stand out from the background. Each program does it differently though. GIMP is frustratingly complicated at times.

If they break it up backwards between dialogue bubbles, don't be afraid to rewrite the whole sentence like how it would be in English. Then speak out the line and figure out how to break it up between the two.

Everyone, even the big boy official translators, will rewrite stuff to have it make sense and flow correctly. It's just the nature of the Japanese sentence structure. I rewrite some stuff with smaller words just to make the typeset fit in the bubbles. Like how am I supposed to fit the word...

@rollialana I primarily use the font Anime Ace but other popular ones are Manga Temple and Wild Words. Dafont has a boatload of fonts to choose from so just browse through and find a couple you like and test them out. Also remember that there are big scanlation groups out there with trash...
