Keep in mind that Luna literally has poisonous skin and breath that will harm you and maybe even kill you. Keeping physical distance from her is for your own survival. (Although Lis has been quite physically close to her a lot, so maybe her poison breath isn't that bad)

It was a flashback to when he first woke up. After Luna took him on as an apprentice, this chapter started with a 1 year time jump into the future. Then it flashes back 1 year to what happened immediately after Luna took him on as an apprentice and he woke up.

I feel like this chapter was probably the best so far in this spin-off. Takae being devious, Kujaku and the others coming up with good strategies for the pole toppling.

I did read the pre-serialization, but this one (so far) seemed to be going on a more wholesome route. I honestly believed he only had brotherly love for his sister.
