During my rereads of the whole story this is one of my favourite chapters. Another top tier demonstration of telepathy (seriously, how does this work that they can read each other's inner dialogues?) with great comedic timing.

@Elma_ I think a terrible home life is a good *enough* reason to have low self-esteem (if your parents aren't giving you the time of day, who does care about you?) but the second version has a *better* reason if it gets explained properly (the setup is a doozy).
