I hate story arcs like this. One that make the majority of the cast completely worthless and try to force in false drama when we all know the MC is going to be ok and win in the end. It's basically why i've grown to dislike shounen mangas.

The anime actually doesn't make sense because the story has at no other point tried to right itself through the entire anime it's just an ass pull at the end of the series/season, and I hope it goes with the light novel version for the manga.
