Another possibility is that everything is off scale. In flashback panels, the teacher seems to have a habit of sighting (measuring objects with his pencil). So it could be that the grids are scale references.

I printed out the drawing and started folding-unfolding like a crazy person (my husband was VERY concerned). If it really is solved by folding, I think I got something... if not then I just wasted a piece of paper and about 40 minutes of my life.

It's so amazing how Fujimoto Tatsuki doesn't use much onomatopoeia and tells his story through stills and negative space. In case you can't tell, I am obsessed with his art style.

DAYUM.... Fujimoto Tatsuki has such a way with panels and flow. My favorite illustration has been the few pages of when the Darkness Devil showed up, and now this! Chills!

I started reading (and watching) because of the Reze Arc movie OST. I have severe shounen burnout that I avoid the genre like the plague. For now, I'm glad that this doesn't seem like the typical shounen. Characters actually die (and seems to stay dead?), and the artwork is just so gorgeous...
