    Oishinbo - Vol. 17 Ch. 152 - Spring Gyoza (Part 3)

What's this?! Kaibara didn't credit Chinese cooking for his creation?! He's a plagiarist!! Boo! Boo! That kind of rice flour skin gyoza is a pretty traditional item in Chinese cooking (edit: misnamed the food, it's the steamed dumpling of the Hakka people). Even if Kaibara put his own twist in...

Why would they still have bad breath the next day? Are the toothpaste back in the day not made with the minty fresh kind of scent like today?

Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan - Vol. 2 Ch. 17.3 - Side Story 2: Caldea Lunchtime Special Dragon Steaks!

Mister Ajikko - Vol. 6 Ch. 51 - Pumpkin Flower

Thank you for picking it up!!! Well, he considers it a failure for a reason. His trial and error method always involves using all sorts of random stuff that often doesn't seem sensible.

Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 149 - The Meal Companion

I totally get this chapter. When the rice is good, it's just good even on its own. I really sometimes eat rice with barely anything too because I like the flavour of the rice itself.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 148 - Vegetable Showdown! (Part 3)

I guess we didn't see when Arakawa gave it to him, but it kind of had the impression that it had been there for a day at least, and wasn't just brought in that very morning.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 148 - Vegetable Showdown! (Part 3)

This just is not funny, literally. Like is it the culture back in the day that you aren't allowed to not share stuff? So refusing to share makes you the bum somehow? 😭😭 I wonder why Yamaoka didn't just take it home the first time though. Did he just forgot? Also Kaibara's intention is weird...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 146 - Vegetable Showdown! (Part 1)

Dude, what do you mean it's easy? Like, not everyone has easy access to homegrown stuff like that. Taste is also kinda subjective, as I mentioned. Even if you think both taste the same, I might not have the same opinion. That's why I wanted to have a try for myself.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 146 - Vegetable Showdown! (Part 1)

I mean, if the argument is to say that "this method of farming is impossible", that's a separate conversation. What I want to find out is whether it's really true that completely chemical free fruits and vegetable (meaning even the fertiliser has to be organic as well) taste better.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 146 - Vegetable Showdown! (Part 1)

This guy keeps harping about fully natural farming with only organic compost and no pesticides makes the vegetable and fruits a gazillion times tastier and I wish I can find such a thing so I can see for myself if he's just talking nonsense or if he's got a point even if it may be exaggerated...

    Afterlife Diner - Vol. 2 Ch. 73

They really shouldn't have mentioned religion at all. Like that's just disrespectful when you make up random afterlife lore about real existing religions when it doesn't work like that at all in the faith.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 145 - Living Rice

I want to try Japanese rice someday, because the rice I often get is the long grain ones and no matter who makes them it just feels dry to me. Japanese rice is short grain so the texture could be less dry in comparison.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 142 - The Taste of 50 Years (Part 2)

Yeah, that's just what happens most of the time. To be fair, sometimes the issue was certain ingredients just tasting different depending on where it comes from, but store bought products like sausage and beer are gonna be about additives. Like that time when Kyogoku prefers the fish from his...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 12 Ch. 108 - Japanese Curry (Part 1)

Yeah, I was thinking maybe you just meant long grain rice in general and wrote the name wrong by accident or something.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 142 - The Taste of 50 Years (Part 2)

I didn't say their opinion is right. I don't care about eating heavily processed food. I was just saying my prediction in the last chapter was correct. After this many chapters it's easy enough to predict what was the manga was gonna say is wrong with the food.

Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 143 - The Trouble With Western Cuisine

Exactly my thoughts. Kariya made this same annoying comments about Chablis in a much older chapter, and he's still repeating it. Did you also read Drops of God, by the way? 😂😂

    Oishinbo - Vol. 12 Ch. 108 - Japanese Curry (Part 1)

About the Indonesian curry's rice, I kind of don't think it's Basmati. Maybe this is just terminology problem, because not all long grain rice is called basmati. The standard Southeast Asian rice is the Jasmine rice. Or if not, it's very closely related local varieties that has other names...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 142 - The Taste of 50 Years (Part 2)

See? I was right. The guy hated the sausages because of additives. There wan't actually anything about the casing, but I just threw in anything that could possibly go wrong. I fully expected they would have to bring out a sausage from pure meat as the "right one" from the old man's memories and...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 16 Ch. 141 - The Taste of 50 Years (Part 1)

I will make a guess, the sausages were bad because of additives and preservatives and it's not the "purely crafted meat sausages" from the old times that's made from only real meat and spices, and the casing is artificially made instead of livestock intestines.
