I agree with the other comments here, this arrangement makes no sense. He's essentially giving someone a national treasure level item as a signing bonus, and their regular wage is high as well. At this point why even call this slavery.
Atori thinks of a yuu as a dog, and seems to want to hook her up with suzu, who she platonically likes. Atori seems like the kind with no interest in being romantically involved.
I feel like after the first volume this series leaned too heavily into drama, to the point where there wasn't any breathing room left. It's unfortunate, but I can see why it's ending
