Part 2 will probably be a lot easier to digest if the pacing wasnt designed for a single full read of the entire story. I don't think that's a good excuse at all still. Plenty of other comics and mangas have taken month long breaks and I am still able to enjoy them. The pacing kills it for me...

The problem isn't the narrative or the reasoning. It's just played out after 200+ chapters. He is basically in the same state he was in at part 1. No one should be asking him to be fine immediately but some actual progress would be nice character wise. Which he had shown earlier in the story...
