I can't believe no one else has mentioned that this might be based on the Gerudo. Both a bunch of brown warrior women that only have female children. The only big difference is being located in a jungle instead of a desert. Edit: They've both got isolationist leanings as well.

I know it's just a gag, but running in a weird way like that isn't just a quirk; it'll eventually cause injury from putting strain on something, probably your knees, in a way it's not built to bare.
