Yeah, that's "ijiru" (to mess with) in passive form (ijirareru), which means someone else would be doing it to her, rather than her doing it.

"Smart Idiot" is fine tbh. Seems like a fittingly nonsensical way to sum her up. Though I think Kei's is meant to be more like "joke target" or "joke magnet" rather than "jokester". (Thanks for the chapter! I don't mean for the whole comment thread to be nitpicks).

I loved this episode in the anime. Glad to see this series get some attention again.

I had the hero marry the childhood friend as well when I played DQV. The game guilts you pretty hard in that direction.
