For comparison, The Tensura manga currently adaptating story at the 12/24 Volume, that's half of the entire novel. Meanwhile the Death March manga story is at the 7/35 volume, not even a QUARTER out of the entire novel.

It would take the manga adaptation 20 years into the future to reach this story arc in the novel, and another 5 years just for Satou and his companions to meet this character, that's how slow the manga adaptation is.
