Always hurts my heart when there is a scene of a little kid trying to buy something that is clearly worth way more than they ever could have, but they just don't know.

MC actually has a sizable following of people.
And obviously this is a classic trick to keep MC bound to the empire (i think it was?)
giving him territory and a population he is responsible for.
As bratty and mean as the bother is, his reaction really shows he's just a kid and doesn't understand what's going on, i feel a little bad for him (on like a human level)
why do i get the feeling this will be that classic situation of that guy bringing some overly ornate sword with "a good sword must be beautiful" and then his sword gets cut in half
It's satisfying to me that those shitty "hero candidates" were disqualified from the start with characters like that, seeing that the hero is chosen based on qualities of the heart/soul. Let's see how they get made to realize that by MC :huh:
