My thought on the whole crusade plan is that won't literally every other country see through the plan for what it very clearly is, an invasion to protect their trade monopoly? There might be the church to back them up but we've no clue if they have Catholic Church level power over the other...
I genuinely appreciate the author laying out how everything was more or less supposed to go but also having a really dumb (in a good way) curveball at the end for good measure.
Would've loved to see the series go on.
