Seems like less of a "sentient AI" story and reads more as a metaphor about someone using an AI bot as a scapegoat for her own actions. She wasn't the one being rude, it was the AI! Doesn't matter that she chose to run the bot, or that she was irresponsible enough to keep letting it run...
