Story is still great. Not sure if protagonist is reluctant to call her feelings love because she's scared of the stigma of dating another woman or because she's scared of violating her long held assumptions about love, but it sounds mostly like the latter.

Personally, I am fine with attempted sexual assault as a 'plot device' (as long as it is subverted). It is something that happens. I understand why some people (particularly victims of sexual assault or similar situations) are not fine with it being part of a story, though.
