Just a guess, but in the few instances I've seen manga use a literal "the", it's kinda used to indicate someone's infamous for a certain trait, kinda like how the West would use it. (eg. you're not just a baka, you're ZA baka.) Don't often see it used without it being mentioned in any dialogue...

@Lilliwyt We did have some debate about it, but we concluded that department stores can have their own sports teams. @Exhausted I think the cleaning color is a slightly different tint, but at least on my LCD monitor you have to stick your head way down low to notice anything.

TL comes from myself for /u/ scanlations btw. I dunno why the typesetter neglected to mention this, considering how many of my TLs they've typeset before.
