Possibly, but the other path that I've seen before is where the morally just character comes and tries to do what they thing is the right thing and get caught in the cross fire and ruined by the main antagonist. A way for the author to portray that revenge was really the only path forward.

It did seem the author added a lot of areas, characters and relationship to flesh out and expand on later but it had to rushed to a conclusion. It's kinda hard to get into things in shueisha... and if you ignore things to wait to see if they make it to like 50 chapters to get invested then...
