That's my theory too, or Youta is acting deliberately stupid to avoid confronting Kanejou.

To be honest, he was somewhat capable in the early chapters. Ever since Leigh-Mary and Kanejou's introduction to the story, he started to become a lot more stupid.

They did plant a big ass dead flag on Tenji. I feel like they're hinting that Tenji will join the final game destination as a corpse. I hope I'm wrong.
