@boogle I'm kind of confused about your math... Wizards have a 1d4 in 3.5 for hit dice, and a 1d6 in 5e for hit dice. A 5 represents a -3 modifier to the stat. A wizard in 3.5e would start off with 1 health, or 3 in 5e. I'm not sure exactly where you are getting a minimum of 5. Edit: So really...
