The pacing in the WN (this chapter of the mange adapts chapters 95 & 96 of the WN) is the same. The early chapters are sometimes very disjointed. On a postive note the next few chapters are very fluffy so the manga will be too.

Only a fan translation that stopped being updated years ago. It never got this far so no clue if the novel is as meandering like this. However, this being an adaption, I feel like the mangaka could’ve reordered some of the parts that are so out of left field for an improved flow.

I have fewer problems with the confession and the ending itself than with the 12-15 chapters’ meandering that preceded it. I just don’t think the manga does a good job adapting the source and that’s why I’m happy it’s over.

This point is brought up in the novel by Yuki himself. He’s really annoyed that his DEX only seems to positively affect his crafting, but does nothing when handling weapons. It comes up at least twice before and even in this arc and the manga either glossed over it or didn’t show it at all.
