It's not clear here or might be explained further in the next chapter, but in the novel the reason why this incident is damning to Mia

@FRASH_18 It's due to the rules of his abilities. He will only exit the world and be back at the point where he originally used the ability i.e. the slaver HQ. By having Abyss lure them away they could come back to a hopefully empty HQ and escape easily instead of having so many burdens in enemy...
