In a different translation, the fragments of the true name are "ru...ma" instead of ell...ma". I suppose the disparity comes from the Japanese writing Hellmaster as He-ru-ma-sta, so in the original Japanese it is ambiguous if he said Hellmaster or Chidaruma. Can someone who can read Japanese...

I thought he would do something clever, like breaking the guy's wand or hitting the statue, because he may not get hurt, but he can still be overpowered, so he can't stop Mash from taking away his wand or attacking the statue. But no, he went the Mash route of just punching on until it works...

@therealmarujo I really don't think it is. The tone of the scene is way too upbeat. In fact, I read that it's also a pun that can mean "I'd rather be with death", which refers to Brook, which is why he looks all delighted in the next panel. So the scene seems more comedic than foreboding.
