Hmm, they took the "You're really kind after all" scene but didn't include the multiple times Saya questions Elaina for being nicer than usual. I feel like it would have added a bit more weight to the final scene. Sadly this is the final volume, and novels 14-20 are still pending translation...

Kind of. This story is a 3-chapter story at the end of Volume 10. Funnily enough it is out of order, the reveal of meeting Saya is supposed to happen after rescuing Fran cause it explains some behaviour of Elaina while in the book.

I think I kinda get... the process that led to him accepting a boring everyday life but it still feels like it needed more time to simmer. Just a harsh rejection about his values doesn't sit right with me considering how fragile this situation could be.

Every chapter I think maybe things will clear up a bit but the trainwreck keeps drifting on more tracks before fully derailing. I swear to god I am going to explode if these 4 ever spoke their mind in the same room.
