Tanuki are racoon dogs, not racoons. They're two unrelated animals despite the name and a tiny bit of similarity in terms of facial markings. Also, 狸 is the kanji for racoon dog; the Japanese name for racoon is araiguma (洗熊/浣熊), completely different from tanuki.

LMAO I didn't notice the typo in the original raw of the first page that said "SCP 448-JP" instead of "SCP 1448-JP" and I didn't bother to check because I assumed it to be correct. The index in chapter 1 correctly lists it as SCP 1448-JP
