Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain - Ch. 24

The latter. The raw comic shortened the name, making it seem like the Shaolin skill.

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 116 - We Are Allies

@Valve It's an established fact that he's working in the palace though. A male cannot work in the inner courts of the palace unless he's castrated. There's no reason to suspect that he isn't actually a eunuch when he's already serving as one. Even the emperor wanted to see his "thing" to confirm...

Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain

@youdontknowwho Hmm. Based on the website, they are supposed to be separate productions, although [3] and [4] could be the same thing. This is assuming that the website info is accurate, which may not be, since anyone seems to be able to edit the website. There's no source listed in the website...

Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain - Ch. 13

@a_tumiwa The manor master, Du Ximeng, is supposed to be a good friend of Miao Renfeng (as revealed in the couplet that Miao gave him). So Miao simply trusted his friend to keep his daughter safe. @YerRob He has a reason for that, which will be revealed later.

Shikkaku kara Hajimeru Nariagari Madou Shidou!

This world building seems somewhat incoherent. The MC was disinherited due the bad result of his magic power measurement in Chapter 1, yet his uncle said in Chapter 3 that magic power cannot be measured... 🙄

    The Deer and the Cauldron

I just submitted a report to remove (Phoenix Entertainment) from the title. I don't know why it's there, but "Phoenix Entertainment" is NOT part of the title. The publisher is already included in the "Artist" field, so there shouldn't be any confusion with adaptations by other publishers. Do...

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 108 - Checking the Body at Night

@a_tumiwa It's the vice commander of the imperial body guards in the 3rd edition (2006) novel.

    The Deer and the Cauldron

@youdontknowwho Jademan's adaptation was cut short at Yunnan arc. The story was never finished. Furthermore, that format is difficult to scanlate into English due to its panel sizes and arrangements. It's impossible to fit the English words without making the font too small to read. I've...

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 105 - The Empress Dowager Isn't Dead

@a_tumiwa Hmm. If you are talking about this - http://www.1kkk.com/manhua3810/ It's really hard to typeset in English because of the size of the text boxes. English sentences tend to take up more space than Chinese, and even the Chinese text is really small. Expanding the text box is a problem...

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 97 - Entering the Tiger's Den

To be fair, the emperor didn't know that the empress dowager has been trying to kill the protagonist. It's within her rights as the empress dowager to order eunuchs around, so he didn't have a reason to refuse her.

    The Deer and the Cauldron

@johnpoop2529 This isn't the typical harem stories that you'd find in Japanese manga. Read the translator's note at the end of Chapter 0 to get an idea of what to expect and not to expect from this story.

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 85 - Repaying With One's Body

@moel Xiaobao is supposed to start as a teenager and then grows into an adult in his thirties. The entire story covers a period of about 20 years. 1669 - Oboi captured/died 1673 - Revolt of the 3 Feudatories began 1681 - Revolt of the 3 Feudatories ended 1683 - Kingdom of Tungning annexed 1689...

This seems to me like the 17th century's version of pay-to-win.

The Deer and the Cauldron - Ch. 71 - Killing People With Borrowed "Money"

@Xevin Jin Yong's stories are set in a historical period, so they are generally more realistic. You get stabbed, you die...or at least severely injured. You don't duct-taped it and walk away with barely an inconvenience. (e.g. Guo Jing getting stabbed by Yang Kang in Legend of the Condor Heroes)...

    The Deer and the Cauldron

Actually, Jin Yong's stories are often about meshing fiction with historical events and characters, e.g. Genghis Khan, Zhu Yuanzhang, Wu Sangui, etc. The settings often deal with a larger historical context, such as the rise and fall of dynasties. I highly doubt whatever "generic trash" you have...

Why are Chinese authors so often trash?

A lot of chinese titles suffer from cliches bc they just copy from a few successful titles. It becomes formulated templates and cookie cutter products. Mary Sue self-inserts are particularly popular. But it's not like they're limited to chinese titles. Mary Sue is a universal plague. Japanese...
