I like how his reason for wanting revenge isn't something grand or something tragic that happened to him. It's just something very unfortunate that coincidentally happened to a young kid, and kids sometimes really holds on to those emotions for a while. Idk, I like how Yotsuya has this mix of trying to think rationally like with "fairness" and other philosophical stuff like a normal kid their age would do but at the end his reason for being so negative is something so simple and coincidental.

Now this is what a realistic sociopath story! Not a grand backstory, but a petty one. And it's most likely not this singular event, but an accumulation of multiple events that were filled with pettiness, that just made him eventually hate everybody, and even he hasn't realized it yet because he thinks of one event changing things like a book, like an equation in reason. And his personality seems like a perfectionist, it doesn't mean getting an A or anything, but to win and attain the goal. They don't really have motivations in life, they just need to be told the goal and they'll reach it. And if something gets in their way, they act petty and treat others as unworthy, or inferior. He's just simple, and makes sense. It's not bad character writing, it's just realistic writing on the most personalitys people always make overcomplicated by diluting in delusions, because they don't know what they're thinking. I can talk about detachments to emotion, but ever since the story from the beginning to now, he's become more attached to people, albiet, super slow. His character reminds me of a more social and less smarter Near from Death Note, just a thought.

basically, no matter how clever Yotsuya is, he still shows that his mind is that of middle schooler that hasnt seen enough of the world yet. so his revenge is actually not petty, just simple and what a young kid grudge would look like. seems author wants to show that yotsuya learns something new in every stage albeit in"small" but focused thing. so no backflip of personality like some manga, but turning ever so slowly

that aside i love how the normal citizen actually can become so powerful proportional to their life, even making yotsuya and co. as player/hero/sage of other realm look like a toddler even with their "cheat"

still waiting when the weak warrior girl gonna shine tho..
