Right? Billos is much cuter than I thought!
Seeing Choi Han beating up Cale is way too hilarious.

Its the law of protagonists. The more powerful you become, the more powerful the enemies. If you want to stay at a manageable level have manageable strength. The only other alternative is becoming the pinnacle and most powerful being (aka a God) but he obviously cant be asked to do that.

From the authors perspective, the protagonist needs to overcome new challenges, sure.
But the MC would be breaking the fourth wall were he to use that excuse.

And even then, assuming you're protected by plot armor and will never face more than you can handle, isn't it best to get as powerful as possible just in case there isn't?

One million gallons is a bit small, considering he extorts people later for 35 billion counds later on. Which is like, what, 40 billion gallons? The unfortunate soul who makes that deal with him ends up in jail after he gets even more money from them.

Not to mention his uh...ability to sneakily reappropriate funds from people. LIke the poor rather wealthy actually shining sun of the Roan Kingdom. I wonder how empty the treasury is. This is the dude that buys a tower for a couple months and then yeets it into oblivion using someone else's money.

@Degernase it's not his logic, it's his, or rather, Kim Rok Soo's personality. Great power comes with great responsibility, and Kim Rok Soo is a very responsible person. It basically conflicts with his goal of living a slacker life.

He's not "very responsible", his own interests always come first and if something is deemed like an optimal solution to a problem, he's perfectly fine with using underhanded methods whilst disregarding the consequences for those involved.

I'm not calling him "evil" or any such thing, he clearly doesn't want to put people in needless danger when it wouldn't help his plans and while he doesn't go out of his way to help anyone, he'll on a whim do something small whilst passing by.

If you're familiar with the classical D&D alignments, our MC here is the personification of chaotic neutral.
A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom.
He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it.

Also screencap from chapter 12 in spoiler where he straight up says "I don't care about people other than me".
