And what's been your starter into japanese comics+animation?
Hoo boy.
Let me tell you a short story.
See, back in the day, I used to think of anime and manga as just a niche for pathetic human beings. I dared not touch it, lest I be infected by the disease of "Weeb-itis".
Then, a really geeky friend of mine told me to watch an anime I can't remember the name of now. I refused, even after the pressure he put on me to watch it, but that sparked my interest in anime.
So I booted up an anime piracy website, clicked the random option, and lo and behold...
I got
Happy Sugar Life.
I came in blind. And came out a mess.
But you know what? I enjoyed it. For some wicked reason. Can't really give you a review of it, since I've blocked out all the memories of that anime as a trauma response, but still. This anime made me appreciate anime as a whole. And that anime was also the reason I started liking Yuri as a genre.
As for what got me into manga?
Well, I was binge-watching the anime of
So I'm a Spider, So What?, when it ended on a cliffhanger.
Disappointed, I checked the comments, and they were talking about how the manga adaptation was way better. So I looked up manga sites and got one that started with a B. You know which one it is.
I started reading it from when the anime left off, and I knew instantly it was way, way better.
Though it did update slowly, so in my pastime, I looked through my anime piracy website again, and found a then upcoming anime called
Gushing Over Magical Girls. I fell in love with the premise, but since it was just an upcoming anime, I settled on reading
the original manga. Boy, oh boy, I loved it.
Those two mangas got me hooked on manga.
But the translation of Gushing Over Magical Girls on small B stopped updating a while ago, so I looked for alternatives.
And that's how I stumbled on MangaDex.
The rest, is history. History that has once been stated before.
