I'm pretty sure it wasn't axed; the author doesn't have a reputation for longer stories. They also are working on a continuation of their slit-mouth woman series. Lastly, it seems fitting that this ends on chapter 25. Just my two cents on the matter.

Reminds me of the Monsters Inc. ending where there's a timeskip and Sully's reunited with Boo but the audience never actually sees her again before the film ends.

I like this ending! I mean, what else could it have been tbh? It's not like they could bring her back to life - that defeats the whole theme of moving on and growing. Also, I think that the chap title is named after Nico is fitting, especially considering the fact that she didn't show up. She doesn't have to be physically there or be seen for her presence to be felt, really. She's made her impact on the story and on the characters' lives even when she's gone, which I guess is the whole point even if they didn't show us her face in the end. They don't have to do so for us to know that it was Nico... or at least that's how I took it hahaha anyways, that was a good run
