Thanks for the chapter.

Lily getting tied to the tree to stop her alter ego jumping in at night was a nice touch.

As an aside:

To my understanding, Veronica’s last line refers to how Olive’s stress is connected to the series of book she follows. The story aside (which could make things worse), the series triggers Olive’s memories and since she lives for a long time, she also remembers many sad events about the adventurers’ lives and careers.
In combination with busy season at work this will exacerbate her stress to the point of the stress tree grows rapidly.

Even worse, the series author is an elf as well, so it’s not gonna stop anytime soon and new volumes will keep coming out and reaches Olive.
Please correct me if I made a misunderstanding.

While I don't think you're completely off-base (she should have a decent amount of trauma built up over the years that could be dredged up and piled onto more recent memories), it's most likely just the typical Japanese joke about how women are sensitive about their age.
It's a culture that used to call women an "expired/leftover Christmas cake" if they were unmarried by age 25 and often women in their 30s+ (or even late twenties) in anime would claim to be "Forever 17!".

Olive is at least 200 years old, so imagine her reaction when people start going "damn bitch, you're older than the sun!"

I didn’t think about the age factor, it’s possible, but I’m not sure that’s the case, as in it’s less of a joke and more serious.

There is a direct correlation between her remembering when Hajime lost his arm to her stress tree growing like crazy (pg 27 and 28).

Similarly, in pg. 33 she explicitly said the tree is related to memories piling up, and as shown later, venting said memories removed the tree.

No one in this chapter made fun of Olive’s age and only Olive herself was explicitly saying about how long she has lived, this was also not being portrayed in a deprecating manner and only in relation to how much memories she has.
So while there may be this kind of joke in previous chapters, I don’t think that’s the case for this one.

I agree with the other guy only because there have been already 3 different chapters with people making fun of her age. So it’s seem to be a running joke

Her boss is a screw up, she is the only manager in a branch of the guild, as boondocks as this village is it clearly has a good number of adventurers, with a high ranking adventurer and an assigned close dungeon... and they treat her like a slave when she is the only one managing this shit show.

And unless her boss is an elf too... they can NOT use the "when i was young we went the mountain, upward, downward, sideways both ways" card, she must be a guild manager for who knows how much time already if she is following the book since first volume that has been pusblished for TWO HUNDRED YEARS.

Yeah, that is a dumb reasoning based on a middle ages level thinking, unfortunately... it isnt a Japan exclusive thought, and worse yet there is people that think that 20 is already too old.

Humor aside, turning into a tree would be an interesting stress response for a magical species. Something killing your kin? Turn into a tree and wait it out until the source of stress is gone.

I like this concept of a disease. And how I took the final page was definitely about people finding out her age, more from learning the book series started 200 years ago and she started reading when it was first printed, thus logical deductions would out her potential age. I don't know if any previous jokes have had numbers attached but definitely people saying something to the effect of "Well she is an elf, she could be so old and we would never know" Like not that they should truly worry about her having age woes but more like we don't need to add anything that "could" cause more stress. Fun character focus after the last arcs.

Sorry, I guess I didn't convey it well. Though to be honest, Im only 70% sure I got this right. Since their ages was not explicitly mentioned, I think Olive herself is around 40-50 and the 200 years old one is someone else (the one that introduced the book to her). In the last page, Veronica is worried that there are readers out there (of the series) that could possibly holding 200 years amount of memories and just how large the trees they'll grow once triggered by the story.
