Think about it, the order of succession is firstborn. If you are just going to overlook the firstborn for the "plausible" kid with your "legal wife" then you are basically discriminating your own kids.

@Julian117 I seem to recall this exact scenario being an important plot point in a manga or three. Either the MC is the older concubine's kid, and their younger sibling is a right twat (or the inverse is true) or this is what leads to a succession issue with royal NPCs.
