They're both crazy and riddled with family trauma. What they're doing to each other is pretty understandable and it's easy to see why they fall in love with each other, even if it's not healthy. Though unlike Parker who is crashing out in a sort of fun and chaotic manner, Barrow definitely has deep rooted hatred that she lashes out to other people and being starved for affection that she is willing to do anything to monopolize it, leading to her sadistic / obsessive tendencies (Parker also has the same tendency, just not as pronounced or unsettling, mostly because he's in a constant state of panic).
